This Land Is Your Land (Revisited)
This is an old favorite from America's roots rephrased to address the issues of the day. It is one of many roots music songs that have that indelible ability to be reborn over the centuries. One may not agree with the content of this song, but then many did not when it was first released by Woody Guthrie many many years ago. Music is a great way to make issues succinct and cut through the double speak to hit home the reality that is.
Guthrie was a natural when it came to raising and eye and putting fire under things and forcing people to think and question. Great musicians do not simply produce music, but produce thought and reflection and drive home something that never leaves us if he or she is good.
Life in America is returning to a time much like that of Woody Guthrie, so it is fitting to see one of his greats achieve a rebirth and force us all to question or deny, (which ever we choice) without firing one bullet or hanging one man to prove a point. That is the true joy of America and so far we have not lost that yet. Let's hope we never do.
