McChrystal And A Loose Pistol
Politics has always muddled up war at least after World War II. Generals don't like meddling and neither do polticians. That being said, one has to wonder how both military science can coexist with political science without somebody getting caught in the crossfire. Unfortunately for military operatives, neutrality is a delicacy and anything else is a peril to one's job. Stanley McChrystal found that out this week after the release of details about his Rolling Stone interview.
McChrystal is just plain stupid for doing what he did no doubt but on the other hand, he never really compromised the country and it's goals so all the fluff about his "inappropriate remarks" seems a bit of a stretch at best. The man was undoubtedly under a lot of stress, much of it from political cancer that seems to invade every war America's had since WWII.
Maybe McChrystal should be relieved of duty in his current position, but don't discount the man and what he did do otherwise. The media too often writes people off with one lick for so called violations of PC and PC is what precisely is wrong with politics and policy today no matter what realm. If this stuff went on in WWII we'd be a Nazi nation without a doubt and would've lost to the ever maticulous Germans who did not give a rats you know what about PR but rather about getting their military goals achieved in a timely fashion.
