Some Classic Political Ads
Below are some cutting edge political ads over the years, from the original grand daddy of them all "Daisy" to Jesse Helms imfamous racially tinged ad about qoutas. Enjoy. I will be updating these ad war pages as the ideas hit me. For now it will be just one page with a few ads --the top ones of all time.
Political advertising really did not take hold until after JFK in the 60's and it was not until the grand daddy in 1964 that LBJ ran against Barry Goldwater, that we started to see the seed for most political ad's today both negative and positive. They call it "soft-serve" in the political ad business. In the 70's and 80's the added component of "negative comparative" or "comparative" was added to the mix where candidates would draw distinction between themselves and their opponents.
Today, with the advent of the internet, political ads are even more potent and useful because candidates can refer viewers to websites that reinforce their message in more depth than can be done in 30 second spots. Candidates with no money can now post quasi-ads on YouTube and elsewhere too as well as their own sites.

This ad is from a AL GOP primary. It's a great in your face ad for a less than notably office.

This is one of my favorite ads even though I did not like Bush at the time. It is the new age "daisy" of political ads that coined an issue so well (even though very misleading I might ad at the time)
